EU FP7 and H2020 projects

Soraya Sierra coordinated the EU FP7 pro-iBiosphere project (http://www.pro-ibiosphere.eu).

This is a Coordination and Support Action launched from 2012-2014 to address technical and semantic interoperability challenges and prepare the ground for the creation of a system for intelligent management of biodiversity knowledge which will improve the present system of taxonomic literature.

At present, she is Task Leader in the EU FP7 NetBiome-CSA project (http://www.netbiomedata.org). This is a coordination and support action launched from 2013-2016 to strengthen biodiversity research cooperation in European Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) and Outermost Regions (ORs). The OCTs and ORs together host 80% of the European biodiversity, 6% of globally threatened species and 7% of coral reefs. Naturalis is the only biodiversity research institute participating in the NetBiome-consortium, working in close collaboration with the Policy Nature Coordinator - National Office for the Caribbean Netherlands and the Director of the Caribbean Netherlands Science Institute. The project’s final event will take place in March 2016 at the European Parliament.
