Many rare, historic books are kept in the safes of libraries often under controlled climatic conditions. During auctions these books change owner for sums that can run into tens of thousands of euros.
Naturalis has set itself the task of publishing such exceptional natural history volumes in electronic form so as to make these available to a wide public. So far, four titles have been published for both iTunes and Amazon Kindle:
Natural History of Fishes, M.E. Bloch (1782 - 1795)
Exquisite Shells, F.M. Regenfuss (1758, vol. 1)
The Turacos, H. Schlegel & G.F. Westerman (1860)
Wonders of Nature, Jan Velten (1700)
