De Mineralen van Nederland
Authors: Nijland, T.G.; Zwaan, J.C.; Visser, D., Leloux, J.
Year: 2007
Publisher: Naturalis
Language: Dutch (Summary in English)
For the first time an overview is presented of minerals formed in the Netherlands. Most economically relevant minerals have always been imported. Obviously, this contributed to the fact that a systematic inventory of minerals occuring in the Netherlands had never been compiled before. The four authors documented 64 minerals from 6 different geological environments. Both the localities and the minerals are discussed and illustrated. Minerals formed in an anthropogenic environment have not been included, nor minerals in erratics, formed elsewhere, but transported by rivers or glaciers. The book includes an overview of the mineral collections, present in Naturalis, Leiden, Teylers museum , Haarlem, and the University museum (Universiteitsmuseum) Utrecht.
