BCP0001: Barcoding of Dutch mosses
Progress: 685 of 1,500 expected specimens, currently 612 barcodes (ITS-2 and trnL-F)
This is a project in cooperation with the Nederlandse Bryologische Vereniging. Mosses are important for the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems and are often used in biomonitoring. Due to the simple morphology and large phenotypical variation, the mosses are often difficult to indentify. DNA barcoding can assist in the molecular identification of species in ecological research and various other applications.
