Access / plan your visit
Due to the physical integration of the zoological collections of Naturalis and the Zoological Museum Amsterdam, the collections in Leiden may not be open to visitors or available for loans for periods up to several months throughout 2011. In case of urgency or simple requests, please contact collectie@ncbnaturalis.nl. We apologize for this inconvenience
When requesting professional visits to the Naturalis collections, please use the visitors form of Naturalis.
A request from a student must be accompanied by a letter of the institute and e-mail to collectie@ncbnaturalis.nl.
Collections are open for use from Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Please note that the collections are not open on weekends or public holidays. The Naturalis staff and collections are housed at the Darwinweg 2, Leiden (see Google Maps).
Getting there
Check route description for directions by car and public transport.
Parking is very limited at Naturalis. Visitors are encouraged to use the public transport. Timetables and price-information can be found on the website of the Dutch Railways (NS)
Accomodations
Visitors are responsible for arranging their own accommodations. As the Leiden University Guesthouse has closed, there is no short-stay student facility in Leiden. For hotels and other accomodations in Leiden you can check the website of the Leiden Tourist Information.
Cheap hotel accomodations you can find in the Stay Okay hotels. Close to Leiden you can find a Stay Okay in The Hague, which is on short distance of Leiden, with trains running every 10 minutes.
Bed & breakfast accommodations can be be found in and around Leiden.
