We are currently very interested to find somebody who has another copy of this photograph.
The backside lists the names of the boys depicted (mirrored) in Dubois’ handwriting, but curiously he has erased himself and pricked several of the boys’ eyes. Now Dubois seems not to have finished this school and did a state exam instead before being allowed to university. Rumour has it that Dubois had a sweetheart that took so much of his time he did not do his homework and essentially flunked. We would like to find evidence to corroborate this story and you might be able to help.
Are you a descendant of one of the boys depicted? If you are, there might be an undamaged copy of this photograph in your family. We would very much like a copy of that. There might even be correspondence or other reminders of Dubois. Please let us know.
We currently assume the woman to the left to be the grandmother of Dubois’ wife Anna Lojenga. We would be very interested if someone could tell us more about the traditional clothing these women are wearing, as we assume it can be located quite accurately...
