The European Invertebrate Survey in the Netherlands has set as its goal the gathering and distribution of information about the presence, the distribution and the ecology of invertebrates native to the Netherlands.

The foundation's office, which is housed in Naturalis, takes care of the recording of faunistic data gathered by volunteers in a databank. In addition, the office sets up its own projects and carries out external assignments, also European, for which subsidies are requested from the European and national governments or foundations. Results of the research is partly made public in the series published by the foundation, 'Nederlandse Faunistische Mededelingen' (Dutch Faunistic Reports). At the same time, the foundation distributes a free Newsletter.
